This piece was shown at Rochester Contemporary's member show in 2023-24. 
 
I saw these little flowers at the grocery store and I thought they were really pretty and immediately imagined a portrait with flowers in the hair. I often use myself as a reference because it is quick and I don't have to pay for the photos. 
 
This piece then turned into an experiment with portraiture: the technique of glazing and many colors in the skin. I was also interested in color, contrasting the pinks, purples, and reds of the skin with this greenish-yellow background.
