About Me
After graduating with my BFA in Studio Art from Rochester Institute of Technology in 2022, I continued to explore paintings about everyday life. Over the course of my practice I've become fascinated with painting's ability to capture the truth of everyday places and moments combined with the fictional, fantasy world that's been depicted throughout the medium's history. As I've incorporated more subjects from Classical painting, I've come to think of oil painting as a medium heavily entangled with both power systems and desire. I'm especially concerned with how this relates to women's bodies: the history of depiction, contemporary issues as a woman in America, and the small violences of everyday. Yet I also am fascinated by the beauty there is in our every day and the hidden symbolism in all the objects that surround us. Especially having grown up in suburban America, I'm fascinated by the global, cultural, and class ties objects represent. I believe oil paint is a medium tied up with a colonial past, yet I am also deeply in love with the material. It's color and visceral texture often appear flesh-like, making it perfect for exploring humanity, our desires, fantasies, and realities. Typically my work follows the size of my subjects. I feel a deep need to create life sized portraits that demand attention. On one hand to continue the legacy of grand paintings of the past, and on the other to give presence to overlooked subjects.

I am currently attending the University of Georgia to pursue my MFA in Fine Arts with an estimated graduation year of 2028. I've begun teaching beginning drawing and painting classes at UGA, and participating in Arts Conferences while continuing to exhibit my work across both New York and Georgia. I send out a monthly newsletter where I share what work I've made each month, things I'm reading or thinking about, and any art events coming up (sometimes I have sales for my subscribers too).
