This piece was an exploration of pattern and the technique glazing. 
 
It's called "Three Patterns" because there is a patterned background, a patterned dress, and patterned skin. The freckles and blemishes on skin, to me, seem like another pattern on a surface. Much like how the other two patternes are on surfaces. And then all three patterns are surfaces because it's the surface of the canvas!
