This still life was a way to explore combining references. The pink flowers were painted from life, while the anime figurine, O'Keefe painting, and body builders were added from images references. 
 
Flower still lives have been historically associated with women due to men restricting women's participation in the arts. Pink has come to be a "girly" color, here appearing in beautiful flowers, an imaginary anime woman, and in one of the best American painters. The women body builders exist in a black mental/digital, screen space, and as a different, unexpected beauty standard.
