This painting is based on an image I took of koi fish at the botanical gardens in Pittsburg. I felt the movemnt of the fish was fitting with a super vertical and narrow canvas. 
 
The rocky bottom is my favorite part of this piece. I painted some areas in a thin wash, and colors mix together. Other spots contrasts thinner paint with opaque details. And of course, as always, color and brushstrokes always catch my eye.
