This apple study was painted from life. While painting it, I was interested in how the surface of the gesso board allowed for really interesting mark making. I ended up leaving small gaps blank as well, because I wanted to increase attention towards the brush strokes. 
 
This was a brief study, but it was a great was to think about color, texture, and the subject. I expect a larger painting involving an apple tree will follow. 
 
No hanging hardware. Recommend adding a frame.
